Jesus
"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16
The word Gospel means “good news.”
We are all sinners
As a result of the fall in the garden of Eden, mankind is inherently corrupted by sin. Sin is anything that separates us from God; even the smallest lie misses the mark (the perfect standard) that God sets for us. Because of our sin, we are separated from our Creator and deserve the penalty for our sin, death.
“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23
In need of A Savior
Even though we can’t earn our way back to God or measure up to His perfection, God sent Jesus to come to us! We deserved the death penalty for our sin, but Jesus took the penalty. God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be born of a virgin, live a perfect and holy life, die on the cross, rise from the dead, and conquer our sins. We can be saved by grace through faith in Him! We can depend on Jesus for forgiveness, everlasting life (spending eternity with Him in Heaven), and a relationship with Him here on Earth.
Romans 5:8
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ [Jesus] died for us.”
1 Corinthians 15:3–4
“Christ died for our sins, … He was buried, and … He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Ephesians 2:8–9
“For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
Call upon the name of the Lord and be saved
Salvation comes by calling upon the name of the Lord.
Psalm 145:18
The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.
Joel 2:321
It will so happen that everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be delivered.
Romans 10:12-13
For there is no distinction between the Jew and the Greek, for the same Lord is Lord of all, who richly blesses all who call on Him. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
See also Ps.18:3; Zech.13:9; Acts 2:21.
This is the gospel, humble yourself, recognize your sin, and call upon the name of the Lord (believing He is the only one that can forgive and save you from your sin and the judgment it deserves), He will save you.
How do I get eternal life?
Believe
Jesus paid the price for your sin, and He rose from the dead to give you eternal life.
“Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” Acts 16:31
Repent
What does it mean to repent? It means to do a spiritual U-turn with the help of the Holy Spirit. You turn from sin, and you turn to God. It doesn’t mean you’ll never sin again, but it does mean that you now hate to sin and don’t want to do it anymore.
“Unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.”
Luke 13:3
Receive
Invite Christ to come into your life to be your Lord and Savior. The moment you call upon His name and receive Him as your Savior, He makes you a new creation.
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.”
John 1:12
I want to receive Jesus
*This is only a model prayer, you may pray using any sincere words from your heart of similar meaning. *
Pray a prayer like this:
“Lord Jesus, I confess that I have sinned against You. I repent of my sin. I believe that You died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins. I receive You as the Lord and Savior of my life. I give my life to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
If you, hating your sin, have called upon the name of the Lord in faith, then, according to the Bible, you’re a Christian. The old man has passed away, you are now a child of God, and the Spirit of God has come to live within you. Welcome to the family of God!
There is rejoicing with the angels in heaven, and we would love to rejoice with you as well. If you prayed to receive Christ, please let us know. We thank God for what He’s done in your life, and we would like to send you some free materials that will help you get started in the Christian life.
